The University of Michigan-Dearborn Softball team got off to a rough start in “Spring Training” down in Florida in February. They were only able to gather three wins in 18 games before coming home to face off against Davenport to start the regular season.
Since starting the season, they’ve yet to win a game, but hope to do so against Lourdes College this weekend. This past weekend, they faced off against Robert Morris (IL) and fell in a doubleheader, 5-4 and 6-1.
They’ve also dropped games to Davenport, Bellevue (Nebraska), and Southeastern (Florida). Leading the way for the Wolves this season, sophomore Jessie Theume with a .365 BA and nine RBI’s. Junior Chelsea Pomaville leads the team in steals with five total, while freshman Erika Southworth with a 4.55 ERA and 34 earned runs. Junior Lindsay Colasinski leads the team in strikeouts with 4.29 per game, with a total of 20.
The Wolves currently sit second to last in the WHAC (Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference). They have 11 game left in the season, with the two home games coming up this weekend against Lourdes. The other home games will be against Davenport on April 13, and Madonna on April 17 and Aquinas on April 20.
