Monday’s high schools roundup: Ferndale free throws hold off Royal Oak

Royal Oak — In a key OAA Blue matchup, Ferndale and Royal Oak duked it out until the final seconds. Ferndale (7-2, 5-1) had the lead all Monday night, and thanks to some key free throws in the final seconds, it topped Royal Oak, 42-39.

“Heading into the fourth (quarter), we were down 32-22,” Royal Oak coach Brian Sopota said. “We ended up fouling, (they) made a free throw, (we) had to foul again, and (they) made a couple more free throws.”
